Walt Whitman 120º aniversario

Hoy se conmemora el 120º aniversario de la muerte del poeta norteamericano, Walt Whitman. Escritor de "Leaves of Grass", ha tenido una gran influencia sobre futuros escritores, como Rubén Darío o Borges.

En sus obras es más que recurrente la admiración a sí mismo, al ser humano por ser humano "I exist as I am, that is enough", anunciaba la figua del poeta como un guía "Walt, you understand enough... why don't yoy let it out then?", criticaba la esclavitud "Ther runaway slave came to my house and stopped outside", hablaba también de la igualdad "Whatever goes to the tilth of me it shall be you", de la revolución "Unscrew the locs from the doors! Unscrew the doors themselves from their jambs!", la santificación del cuerpo "This head is more than churches or bibles or creeds", muestra humildad "Walt Whitman, an American, one of the roughs" y se muestra también como la voz de todos los ciudadanos "Through me many long dumb voices, Voices of the interminable generations of slaves, Voices of prostitues and of deformed persons, Voices of the diseased and desapiring, and of thieves and dwarfs, Voices of cycles of preparation and accreation..." y también de la democracia "I give the sign of democracy; By God! I will acceptt nothing which all cannot have their counterpart of on the same terms". Pero sobretodo, como he dicho en un principio, la celebración del ser: "I celebrate myself, And what I assume you shall assume, For every atom belongiing to me as good as belongs to you"
